Liveryman Peter McVeigh, installed as Master Lightmonger 3rd November 2023

On Monday 6th November Peter represented the Company at the Livery Garden of Remembrance service held in St. Pauls Churchyard, at which he planted a Token of Remembrance on behalf of the Lightmongers, in memory of those who have fallen in wars. This is an annual event attended by the Lord Mayor & Sheriffs, the Royal British Legion, the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force and all City of London Livery Companies.

Later that week, on Saturday March 11th, Master, Peter McVeigh, Senior Warden, Tony Ginman and Senior Court Assistant, Mark Giardelli represented the Lightmongers at the Lord Mayors Show as it processed through the City. This is part of a centuries-old tradition that newly installed Lord Mayors of the City of London process through the City. Nowadays the Lord Mayor’s Show is also a major fund-raiser for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which supports a range of charities. The Lightmongers were part of the Modern Liveries Companies entry to the show, with a London Red Routemaster Bus as their float.
