This year, due to COVID-19 regulations, each of the Livery Companies was restricted to entering only one team into the Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon Shoot competition. The competition took place over 8th and 9th September at the Holland & Holland Shooting Ground and was very well supported with 90 Livery Companies and 360 individual guns participating. It is the sadness that we heard of the passing of Liveryman Peter Denny after a short battle with cancer. Our affiliated School for blind and visually impaired children, NCW, held their Celebration Day on Friday 26th June, at which year-end prizes were presented. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, innovation and technology enabled the event to be held virtually, using the GoogleMeet App. It was impressive to see how well the event had been organised and was carried out, with over 145 devices connected. ... The Lightmongers annual Charity Golf Fund-raising Day had to be cancelled this year due to COVID-19. Undaunted by this setback the Lightmongers Charitable Trust, based on some creative thinking from Liveryman James Hill, organised a ‘socially distanced” Charity Golf Event, fully compliant with COVID regulations and guidance! During May Captain (now Colonel Sir) Tom Moore received the Freedom of the City of London, in recognition of his phenomenal COVID-19 fund-raising on behalf of NHS charities, with which we are all very familiar. The Construction Livery Group held its 2020 awards ceremony at Mansion House on 2nd March 2020. The awards date back to 2001 when Masters certificates were first awarded to those who hold leading positions in their profession.
