The annual match between the Lightmongers and the Tallow Chandlers Company, for the Arrow Cup, was started over nearly 40 years ago. The trophy presented to the winning team each year, was first presented by Past Master Lightmonger Stanley Brain, of Arrow plastics.
This year the match was held at Beaconsfield Golf Club on 30th September and the Lightmongers Golf Society fielded a strong team, see photo below, L-R: Roger Rawson, Giles Le Manquais, Mark Giardelli, Graham Lewis, Norman Emery (Captain), James Hill, Colin Nelson, Simon Hobbs, Greg Jarvis, Peter Le Manquais, Nick Hoare, Phil Cross and Ian Hill (not in the photo).
The team are delighted to announce their resounding victory this year, with a final score of 10 – 3. Huge thanks to all the team members for their time, effort and good spirit in making this another enjoyable and memorable day, and congratulations on your success.

The Lightmongers also organise a Charity Golf Day each year, raising funds for our two affiliated schools, New College Worcester for blind and visually impaired students and Mary Hare School for deaf and hearing impaired students. The main focus of the charitable giving of our Lightmongers charity is to support charities that work with people who have sensory impairment of sight and/or hearing, where good lighting brings great benefits.
Our 2026 Charity Golf Day is being held in September and will be at the Royal Automobile Club Golf course at Epsom. The final date is expected to be confirmed shortly, so look out for confirmation of that and we look forward to your support to that wonderful fund-raising event.
