The Lightmongers Events Committee organised a very enjoyable Social Evening on Friday 26th February, which included a stand-up comedy slot and a delicious Cornish cream tea. A very creative event in these COVID constrained times!
Twenty-eight members and their families joined the event via zoom and had a very enjoyable social time catching up with each other’s news and of course, there was quite a buzz around comparing pandemic experiences. A delicious Cornish cream tea had been delivered to everybody’s house in advance of the zoom session, so we were all able to munch on scones/clotted cream/jam indulgences as we chatted. Some augmented their tea with a glass of wine or two and there were many toasts made between members.
We were entertained by a professional stand-up comedian, Garrett Millerick, who had, very successfully, adapted his routine to suit an on-line setting, which was a great way to round off a very enjoyable evening.
The Master, Peter Harris, gave a vote of thanks on behalf of all the participants to the Events Committee for organising the evening and to Junior Warden Jamie Berry and his Company, Cable Test, for their sponsorship of the event.
The Committee are looking at organising further on-line events in the coming months, whilst we wait for the time when we can all meet in person post-COVID, so look out for news of those!
