HNC/HND Qualifications/Lighting Apprenticeships

The Master, Mike Simpson, made a presentation about education in the industry at a recent LIA event, and gave details of a possible Lighting Apprenticeship and the new HNC/HND qualifications, which are items being actively discussed in the Lightmongers Education Committee.  See a copy of the LIA article below:

Mike Simpson, Master Lightmonger, presented at the LIA Luncheon seminar event, covering Education with details of a possible Lighting Apprenticeship and the new HNC/HND qualifications.

His seminar highlighted the progress we have made over the last 12 months.

Your staff are now able to gain skills and qualifications which can ultimately lead to a BSc in Lighting. This will help every member to attract the right resource and talent to their business.

Recognised qualifications that have been requested by industry, and all areas of our membership, are now reality.

September will see the first cohorts through a HNC and HND in Lighting, delivered by the LIA as a partner with the University of South Wales.

HOWEVER, for this new qualification to succeed it requires students enrolling now for the start of the course in September 2017. We need commitment from member companies to support this.

We need commitments from the industry to place students/staff on these courses this year.

Please if you have any questions about this fantastic new development please contact the LIA and get this recognised qualification working for you.”
