On Monday, March 3rd, Lightmongers had the privilege of joining several other Companies at the annual Construction Livery Companies Awards ceremony, held at the prestigious Mansion House in London.

Our Master, Tony Ginman alongside members of the Education Committee and mentors, proudly celebrated the achievements of this year’s award winners. Certificates were presented by the Rt Hon. the Lord Mayor, Alastair King recognizing excellence across various categories.

This year’s Masters’ Award was presented to Nick Hoggett, Partner at dpa Lighting Consultants. With a distinguished career spanning over 40 years, Nick has been a dedicated advocate for lighting education. He has played a pivotal role in supporting the MSc Course in Light and Lighting at UCL and has been a long-standing supporter of the Lighting Education Trust (LET). His remarkable contributions to the education and development of lighting design talent made him a well-deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

The Journeyman Award was presented to Ben Ransley of FQ2 LIGHT. Ben’s lighting journey began in the film industry before moving into architectural lighting design. His dedication to advancing lighting knowledge is evident in his MSc studies in Light and Lighting at UCL, where he won the 2021 UCL Lightmongers’ Award for his research on the impact of light on circadian rhythms.

This year, two talented individuals were recognized with Apprentice Awards:

🔹 Lieutenant Corporal James Simpson of the Royal School of Military Engineering Group HQ (RSME) at Chatham Barracks was commended for his exceptional academic performance, achieving over 90% in his Class 1 Electrical course. His impressive design project for a petrol station, which involved complex lighting calculations and meticulous lamp and fitting selections, earned high praise from the judges. Corporal Ryan Chapman collected the award on his behalf.

🔹 Ella Nicole Sharp completed her Lighting Degree Apprenticeship with Signify (2020-2025) and has demonstrated remarkable dedication to professional development throughout her career. In addition to her apprenticeship, she has earned a First-Class Honours BA in Business Management and Leadership from the University of Winchester and a CMI Level 6 Diploma in Management and Leadership. Ella’s expertise lies in Interior Lighting Design, particularly in office, retail, and hospitality environments. Her commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) further highlights her passion for the industry.
