The May Court Dinner, held in the wonderful setting of Tallow Chandlers Hall, was the occasion for the presentation of the Lightmongers Education Awards for 2018/19. The successful students were the most outstanding on their respective courses.
Through it’s Charitable Trust the Lightmongers seek to encourage the long-term technical strength of the industry by providing Awards to the top performing students on a range of lighting education and training courses. Most of the Awards are sponsored by generous donations from Lightmonger members, as part of their commitment to the importance of education and training for our industry.
The Master Lightmonger Steve Thomas and the respective Sponsors, presented the following Awards:
University College London – MSc in Light and Lighting

Association of Lighting Designers (ALD) (Stage, studio, theatre and events lighting)
The award is for lighting designers in the early stage of their career within the entertainment sector.

The Master was also very pleased to present the annual Lightmongers Merit Award to the Head Students of each of our affiliated Schools: New College Worcester school and Mary Hare School for young people suffering from sensory impairment of sight and hearing respectively.

The Master congratulated all the students on their success with our 2019 Awards and encouraged them to develop their careers in the lighting industry. He also thanked all the Sponsors for their generous donations, reflecting their commitment to investing in the future technical strength of the industry.
