Royal Automobile Club House – the venue for the Lightmongers2025 Charity Golf Day
Our annual Charity Golf Day this year was held 1st May at the Royal Automobile Club course, Woodcote Park, near Epsom. The weather was glorious; warm and sunny throughout the day and perfect for the golfers. In the evening there was a very sociable Awards ceremony, with a superb dinner, plenty of discussion of the golf rounds and presentation of Awards for the successful teams and golfers.
The Lightmongers Charitable Trust makes financial donations to a range of charities that support people with sensory impairment of either sight or hearing, where good lighting has a positive impact for the individuals affected. The funds raised from this year’s Golf Day will be donated to our two affiliated schools: New College Worcester for blind students and Mary Hare School for deaf students. Later this year they will update us on how the funds raised have been used to support their students.
At the Awards Dinner Norman Emery, Captain of the Lightmongers Golf Society and gave a brief update on forthcoming Livery golf events and encouraged all Lightmongers with an interest in golf to join the Society and take part in these events from time to time. He added his thanks to those members and companies who had helped to organise the event.
Liveryman James Hill, our competition organiser then reported on the golf results and announced the winning teams, which were presented by the Master, Tony Ginman.

Congratulations to all the winners!
During the Awards dinner a raffle was very generously supported by those attending, raising a further £550 for our two affiliated schools. The full amount raised through our Charity Golf Day will be finalised and reported on in the coming weeks.
The Master Lightmonger, Tony Ginman, thanked all the golfers that took part, and their Companies, for their support to the event and the charitable causes mentioned at the beginning of this article; that support is very much appreciated. He gave particular thanks to those that had organised the event, James Hill and the team from Electrical Testing, John Otten, and the Clerk, Mark Houghton.
His final and very important vote of thanks was to the many Sponsors of the event whose generosity was hugely appreciated.
