Our affiliated School for blind and visually impaired children, NCW, held their Celebration Day on 29th June, at which year-end prizes were presented. The Lightmongers were invited to join this Celebration Day and the Master, Stephen Thomas, the Clerk, Phill Hyde and Past Master Eddie Taylor and his wife Gill represented us.
The day started with a concert showing the superb musical talents of the students; they were impressive and wide-ranging. This was followed by the opportunity to view the work of the art students, which was equally impressive.
Lee Greatbatch, who played for the Great Britain Blind Football team at the 2008 Paralympics, presented the year-end prizes. He gave a motivating talk about overcoming disabilities in a positive way. One of the prizes presented was the Lightmongers Science Innovation Prize for 2019, which was awarded to Max Campion.
We came away from the day proud that the Lightmongers are affiliated with the School and able to support it.
