Master Jamie Berry presided over his last Court meeting as Master on 3rd November 2023 and his agenda at that meeting was very full indeed:
Before the meeting, Liverymen Perry Hazell and Graham Large progressed to Court Assistants and Liveryman John Gorse was welcomed as Court Liveryman.
During the meeting Court Assistant Stuart Mucklejohn gave his last Education Committee report as he stood down as Chair of that Committee after six highly successful years, handing over to John Gorse.
The Court also bade farewell to Court Liveryman Bob Venning who has brought so much to our court deliberations over the years. We are delighted, however, that both Stuart and Bob will remain on the Education Committee where their experience and expertise is so highly valued.
This was also the meeting when Past Master Martin Gratte progressed to Past Master Emeritus and told the court of his happiest memories in his Master’s year. One of his proudest moments was installing his two sons as freemen of the company.
Master Jamie Berry also noted that it was he had been installed by Martin Gratte in 2008 so it was a particularly poignant moment for him to be the one to conduct the Past Master Emeritus Ceremony.
After the meeting the Master was delighted to install four new liverymen making the total number installed this year 27.
The Master Jamie Berry, with the other Officers and our four new members:
Kieron Jarvis, Head of Business Development, Road and Exterior, TRT Lighting
Paul Kirwan, Sales Director, Kosnic Lighting
Graham Dean, Sales Director at Emergency Lighting Products Ltd
Ayca Donaghy, CEO at the Lighting Industry Association
Congratulations to the new Freemen on joining the Company.
The Court meeting was followed by Common Hall and the Installation Dinner which will be the subject of a separate report.
