Mrs Margaret Fitzsimons, Director and Secretary of the EDA sent this note to our Clerk Phillip Hyde:

“I had my Freedom of London ceremony in August.  A wonderful experience.  I brought my family along and they were very impressed.  I think they now think I am ‘important’ whereas before I just ‘worked in an office and went to meetings’.

The Chamberlain and Beadle made the whole thing very special and it is a morning I won’t forget.

I was wearing my Lightmonger’s Scarf draped round my neck and the Chamberlain was very impressed.  He said he would get in touch with you about getting some made for the City as they currently only have ties and he is always looking for new things to add to their offering.”
