We held our annual Carol service on the 5th of December in our Company Church, St Botolph’s without Aldgate. The service was conducted by the Rev Laura Jorgenson and was a traditional service of lessons and carols.
We were very well supported by our cadet affiliations, who greeted members and their guests on arrival and who were presented with Christmas gifts by the Master.
The Master and Wardens processed in their gowns and lessons were read by Liveryman David Hawes, Deputy Master Barbara Harding, Liveryman Margaret Fitzsimons, Senior Warden Peter Harris, Past Master John Otten and the Master, Stephen Thomas.
The choir, the East Wickham Singers, guided by their Choirmaster Michael Macey MBE gave some beautiful Christmas music as usual and are greatly valued for their contribution to our Carol service. The organist Douglas Snow provided the accompaniment.
An excellent supper with mulled wine was organised by David and Sandra Hawes and the events committee, which was enjoyed and much appreciated by all.
All the members attending and their families and friends enjoyed this lovely Carol service, which is always a marvellous way to start off your Christmas season. It would be great to see more members and their families/friends there each year to enjoy the service, so please make a note of the date for next year, which is 4th December 2019.
