We held our annual Carol service on the 6th of December in our Company Church, St Botolph’s without Aldgate. The service was conducted by the Rev Laura Jorgenson and was a traditional service of lessons and carols.

We were very well supported by our cadet affiliations, who greeted members and their guests on arrival and who were presented with Christmas gifts by the Master.

The Master and Wardens processed in their gowns and lessons were read by the Junior Warden Father Peter Harris, Liveryman James Simpson representing the Deputy Master Mike Simpson who is in Japan on business, Danielle Dowsett the Deputy Master’s daughter, Senior Warden Stephen Thomas, John Harding Consort and the Master Barbara Harding.

The choir,The East Wickham Singers, guided by their Choirmaster Michael Macey MBE gave some beautiful Christmas music as usual and are greatly valued for their contribution to our Carol service. The organist Douglas Snow provided the accompaniment.

An excellent supper with mulled wine was provided by the events committee and other members, which was enjoyed and much appreciated by all.

There was an excellent attendance by Company members and their families at this lovely Carol service, which is always a marvellous way to start off your Christmas season.
