A memorial service and reception to celebrate the life of Margaret Price, wife of Liveryman Bill Price MBE, was held on 27 July at Christ Church, Bexleyheath. The Lightmongers’ Company was represented by Past Master Hugh Ogus and his wife Mavis and many messages of sympathy and support were received by Bill and his family from Lightmongers unable to attend.
Bill and Margaret were married for 64 years and Margaret will be remembered by many Lightmongers particularly for her beautiful singing at our annual Carol Service. She was a leading singer in her church choir – indeed, in more than one church – and she and Bill brought their choirs to our services; you will have heard Margaret’s fine voice, even though you couldn’t see her! At the memorial service, two choirs combined in some outstanding singing, a great tribute to her memory.
Margaret and Bill were regularly to be seen at Lightmonger functions and Bill served for a time as a Court Liveryman. He was instrumental in the early 1990s in setting up an important education award. Our thoughts are with Bill, his son and daughter and their families at this time.
In recent years, Margaret had suffered from Parkinson’s disease as well as cancer and donations to Parkinson’s UK and Cancer Research were invited.
