On 8th September, the Master joined the Lord Mayor, Alderman Andrew Palmley, and a number of other Livery Company Masters in abseiling down the side of the 224 metre (736 feet) high Leadenhall Building (the Cheesegrater as it is commonly known).
This was an exciting experience for the Master, starting from the 43rd floor of the Cheesegrater and most of us would probably say “rather you than me”, so a big “well done” and congratulations for doing it Master, and in the process raising funds for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
Each year the incoming Lord Mayor nominates Charities to be the recipients of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal for his year and over the year considerable fund-raising events take place, some from annual events such as the Lord Mayor’s Show and many from one-off initiatives such as this one.
The Lord Mayor’s charities for this year, under the theme of Educate, Support, Inspire, and reflecting his background in music, are:
LSO Discovery Programme
St Paul’s Outreach Programme
Music in Hospitals
