We held our annual Carol service on the 4th of December in our Company Church, St Botolph’s without Aldgate. The service was conducted by the Rev Laura Jorgenson and was a traditional service of lessons and carols. We were very well supported by our cadet affiliations, who greeted members and their guests on arrival and who were presented with Christmas gifts by the Master.

The lessons were read by: Liveryman David Hawes, Past Master Barbara Harding, Past Master John Otten, Mrs Frankie Gratte, Past Master Martin Gratte and the Master, Father Peter Harris.

The choir, the East Wickham Singers, guided by their Choirmaster Michael Macey MBE gave us some beautiful Christmas music as always and are greatly valued for their contribution to our Carol service. The organist Douglas Snow provided the accompaniment.

Following the service we enjoyed an excellent light supper with mulled wine, organised by David and Sandra Hawes and Martin and Frankie Gratte respectively, with time to chat and exchange Christmas wishes. The refreshments were much appreciated, as was the generous sponsorship support to the occasion from Armadillo Lighting.

All the members attending and their families and friends enjoyed this lovely Carol service, which is always a marvellous way to start off your Christmas season. It would be great to see more members and their families/friends there each year to enjoy the service, so please make a note of the date for next year, which is 9th December 2020.
