To mark completing of 50 years in the Electrical Industry, Past Master Ian Crosby is undertaking a “Challenge for a cause”. His challenge is to complete a 5-day Arctic Adventure and his cause is the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC). Fuller details of the challenge and the EIC are described by Ian below.

Dear Fellow Lightmongers & Industry Colleagues

As we commence 2022, I will then have reached a milestone of some 50 years within the Electrical and wider Construction Industry (surely he can’t be that old I hear you all say!). Following a ‘rush of blood to the head’, I’ve decided to mark these five decades within the industry with a significant and adventurous charitable endeavour.

In March 2022, I will be undertaking a ‘Challenge for a Cause’ Arctic Adventure in Finland on behalf of The Electrical Industries Charity. The challenge I’ll be undertaking will see me spend 5 days crossing the Finnish wilderness in sub-zero conditions, whilst undertaking a series of demanding activities of which will include cross country skiing and snow shoe trekking – whilst also sleeping overnight in a self-made igloo to name just a few of the challenges I’ve now signed up for – and all of which I’ll be undertaking on behalf and in support of this most worthy charity.

If ever there was a reason to improve my current levels of fitness and wellbeing over the coming months – I’ve most certainly found it!

Many who know me personally across the livery, industry and beyond will also know that I’ve always been pleased whenever and wherever possible, to aim to support numerous charitable good causes through sponsorship and giving. I now therefore for possibly the first time – find myself asking if perhaps my livery & industry colleagues, suppliers, customers, friends, family and generally all those that know me – may possibly consider sponsoring me for undertaking this challenge for a cause, helping me raise some much needed funds for the charity.
