Each year the Construction Livery Group, comprising 14 Livery Companies involved in the construction industry, are invited to the prestigious Mansion House in London, the home of the Lord Mayor, to present certificates under the Livery Companies Skills Council awards scheme. The ceremony also encompasses City & Guilds Livery Company Prizes from 12 Livery Companies.

This year the event took place on 27th March 2023 and the Master was delighted to join The Lord Mayor, The Rt. Hon. Alderman Nicolas Lyons, to present awards nominated by the Lightmongers.

The Master Certificate was presented to Liveryman Peter Boyce, who enjoys a worldwide reputation for his work in lighting research. He is the author of several books and many scientific papers. Peter is the author of the definitive work on the interaction of light and lighting with people: “Human Factors in Lighting”, which details the consequences of exposure to lighting and the role light has on functions of the body, such as circadian rhythms.

The Journeyman Certificate was presented to Jonathan Taylor of Visual Energy Associates, who having been the winner of the Lightmongers Award for those graduating from the Product Design course at Brunel University, was keen to join our Journeyman Scheme. His commitment and talent for his chosen profession were immediately apparent. He has now completed his Journey and will be admitted as a Freeman of the Company.

Annabel completed her Lighting Design Apprenticeship with Signify between 2019-22. She has achieved exponential professional development in this period and worked on various indoor projects, including presenting designs to clients. Annabel has now become a mentor for current apprentices and embarked on a Management Degree course at Winchester University.
