On 5th September the Master, Peter McVeigh, was taken to the Tower of London charged with heinous crimes including, invading the City from Yorkshire and being critical of the state of the roads!
All of this was of course in support of a good cause, namely raising funds for the tremendous work that the Red Cross does, in this country and throughout the world.
The Red Cross organise this fund-raising event most years and it is well supported by the City of London Livery Companies, this year raising £30,000.
The Master wasn’t quite on bread and water rations during his time of imprisonment, as can be seen from this photograph of the prisoners dining:
Due to the generous donations of Lightmonger members, who raised over £1500 for the purpose, the Master was duly released from the Tower and his charge sheet marked accordingly.
Congratulations to the Master for taking part in this Charity appeal, a HUGE thank you to Lightmonger members for their generous donations in support of the Appeal and our best wishes to the Red Cross in the valuable work they do.
