Our affiliated School for blind and visually impaired children, NCW, held their Celebration Day on Friday 26th June, at which year-end prizes were presented.
This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, innovation and technology enabled the event to be held virtually, using the GoogleMeet App. It was impressive to see how well the event had been organised and was carried out, with over 145 devices connected. Students and Staff participated as well as parents and families. The Lightmongers were privileged to be invited to join this celebration event and were represented by the Deputy Master, Stephen Thomas, the Clerk, Phill Hyde and Past Masters John Otten and Eddie Taylor.
The event was a mix of presentation of prizes to Students interspersed with musical performances from the Students, demonstrating the wide range of musical talent NCW helps to develop and nurture.
Deputy Master Steve Thomas presented two prizes on behalf of the Lightmongers during the event, congratulating each of the Students on their achievements and wishing them much success in their future careers. The two prizes were the Lightmongers Science Innovation Prize for 2020, which was awarded to Jack Brookes and the Head Girl Prize for 2020, which was awarded to Paige Rowe.
Well done to everyone at NCW for another successful academic year, despite the challenges of COVID-19.
